Subject: MS SQL linked server and S36 file names

I have created a linked server to IBM i. I can see/query tables on the
IBM i except for tables with names with a '.' in them (e.g. N.BASIC).
These are left over from the S36 days. They show up as tables but when I
issue the following, I get an error:

SELECT *
FROM [WDS400P_NV].[S10A469B].[NVDATA].["N.BASIC"]

OLE DB provider "IBMDA400" for linked server "WDS400P_NV" returned message
"CPF9812: File "N.BASIC" in library NVDATA not found.
".
Msg 7306, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot open the table "S10A469B.NVDATA."N.BASIC"" from OLE DB provider
"IBMDA400" for linked server "WDS400P_NV". The specified table or view
does not exist or contains errors.

I have tried with and without the double quotes to no avail. I have
created an alias with no '.' in the name, with no success.

I could create a view but am hoping not to have to have to do that.

Has anyone run into this and can suggest a resolution?

Thanks.
