You could combine them....

update myfile
set clientName = :pgmClientName,
secondfield = case clientType
when 'A' then :secondFieldvalue
else secondField
end
WHERE
clientType = : pgmClientType;

But not you actually update secondfield every time, it's just when
cleintType <> 'A', you updated secondField with its existing value.

Hi folks,

I have to modify this RPG code :

EXEC SQL

UPDATE MyFile

SET  clientName = : pgmClientName

WHERE

  clientType = : pgmClientType;

I have to update a second field, but only when clientType is a specific value ( 'A', for example).

EXEC SQL

UPDATE MyFile

SET  secondfield = : secondfieldvalue

WHERE

  clientType = : 'A'

Do I have to do 2 updates or can they be combined simply?

Thanks
