Summary or aggregated info is the main purpose of MTQs. Particularly
in data warehouse type environment.
Just in case you haven't seen the info, but MQTs can be used
automatically by the SQE to return the results of a users query.
For example:
select dept, sum(sales) from salesdetail.
Assuming there is an appropriate MQT, the MQT table will be used to
return the results above instead of the salesdetail.
