I would think having the pgm that generated the report write a record
with the spool identifier fields needed would work. It gives you a place
to check what to process hours or days later. I like an audit
so I know when/who generated and when/who processed.
The rpg part is a simple data structure in the code

I don't need help on the program to split the report. I have done many of
those. The focus of this question, was locating a known spool file for an
unknown job. Brad got me to what I needed.
