Mike,

Not sure what you mean by "not what I wanted". I've dealt with a lot of
issues regarding spooled files and it seems a lot of folks want to
"pinpoint" a specific spooled file without giving any information. That of
course is impossible. It's like trying to call your friend you know lives
in Texas, but you don't know his phone number. You say "but I know he's
there!" :) So, you get the phone book and look up his number.

Each spooled file has unique identifier(s) that must be used most of the
time to identify it for performing any operations on it.

I never researched that program. While not exactly what I wanted, it'll
work.

Mike,

Not without using a lot of APIs. Don't you have SPLTOOL
installed on this
site? There is a command called SPLATT (Spooled File Attributes) in
SPLTOOL
that will allow you to build a PF filled with spooled file information.
You
just give it the information you know (you can use wildcards
and *ALL for
most) and it then creates a PF, you read through it, and bingo, you have
all
the information you need for each specific spooled file.

Is there a way to get the unique identifier for a spool file with only
knowing the spool file name and assuming there is only one copy
in the OUTQ?
(The Job Name, Job User, Job Number and File Number.) We run a
report on one
day then we want to run another program to split out this
vendor created
report into multiple reports a couple days later. This is a payroll
report
so it has to be sent out on payday. I haven't seem much with
the search
terms I used.
