Re: ECS modem on System i for telephone

We don't use the dial up for ECS anymore. We run the script below about
every other month on all lpars. After having a disk die and no call from
IBM (luckily Messenger Plus alerted me) I'm not in the mood to take
prisoners.

Some Fax dial up. For bulk fax dial up we use 2805 ports. For low volume
testing on test lpars we use standard ports and IBM fax/data modem.


Testing Service Agent:

We want to make sure that the system will call IBM automatically if
something drastic happens with hardware – like a disk drive failure.

GO SERVICE
1. Change Service Agent attributes
Make sure that Enable is set to *YES. If already *YES, then F12 back to
Electronic Service Agent menu. If not, change it to *YES and enter
through the defaults.

10. Work with jobs
You should have the following 5 jobs:

extension also rings on one phone in the computer room.
