We have an iSeries 270 that a while back had a failed disk while I was on
holiday. One of our engineers ordered a replacement with IBM and upon my
return, I found out that the replacement disk has failed. So I placed
another order for another replacement giving then the FRU number of the
replacement disk that was sent before.

The problem is this new disk is also getting rejected when added to the raid
coming up with the error below.

The System encountered an error while it was attempting to read or write to
a disk unit.

Getting back to the guy who ordered the first replacement, he is not quite
sure what information he gave IBM. I am now beginning to think that maybe
the wrong type of disk was ordered in the first place.

How can I tell if it's the wrong type disk?

Is there a way to find out the details on the original failed disk so the
correct information is given for another replacement?

thanks
