The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Rob,
Remember that Power 6 hardware uses 3 different codes for machines.
It's the 2nd letter in the two letter name. The E stands for Eclipse. L is
for low end, M for mid, and H for the high end machines. The power 5 line
all used SF for System Firmware.

Got a reply back from IBM
The firmware level required to go to R610 is dependent on the hardware
that you are planning to install it on.
For Power5 based systems your firmware should be at SF240_332 or higher.
For Power6 based systems your firmware should be at EM310_057_048 or
higher.
The information can be found at:
https://www-912.ibm.com/e_dir/eserverprereq.nsf
Select your hardware (if you leave the feature code blank it will
display all features) and click on the GO button. If you left the
feature blank you can scroll down - the information is located under
feature 0534 - i5/OS V6R1M0 Machine Code.
Thank you,
...
