Thanks for the suggestions and links. This is a new work environment for
me and the LPARs are already set up and running and no one here has a real
good feel for them either. I just need to know what I need to learn to
support them in an ongoing basis - not just the minimum - I want to *know*
what I am doing as well.

Honestly, how often are you going to do LPARs? If once or twice I
recommend the cheap way. Bring in an outside consultant and have them

it for you. Stick with them like glue and learn all you can.
I did it the consultant way and have done a few more lpars since then.
Both 8xx, Power 5 & Power 6.
IBM does have formal education on LPARs.
