email routing fixed.
Thanks to all that helped, especially Tom Kreimer who looked at my config
and gave me the final solution.
AT&T fixed the router config, which they saw as "a mess", but still not work.
I had to add a route for the specific ip of the hosted email service. Even
though I was specifying the interface to use, the subnet mask (255.0.0.0) for the
public address interface (70.x.x.x) included both the ip of the iSeries as well as the hosted
email service. I prob put that in 10 years ago.
Thanks again..
Jim Franz

Hi Jim,

iSeries cannot telnet on port 25 to smtp.xyz.com or by it's ip address, or ping it.
My pc can do all of the above (I'm vpn into network).

Compare a traceroute from the iSeries to smtp.xyz.com to a tracert from
your PC to smtp.xyz.com. Do they follow the same route?
