I seem to recall the setup diagram indicated connection to a switch of
some sort on an existing network was an option instead of the direct
cable connection.

This is actually what we'll likely be doing with our own BCS when I set
this up next week in our lab.

It's been some time since I looked at the information so this is from
memory - so the usual caveats apply.
