Doug,

I don't understand your question.

For an RPG program to even read a record containing NULL values, the ALWNULL(*INPUTONLY) must be used
in the h-spec or on the CRTxxx command.

For an RPG program to read & write, ALWNULL(*USRCTL) must be specified.

The default is ALWNULL(*NO) which means the program would throw and exception if it read a record with
NULL values.

So what are the current settings for the RPG and the DDL and what do you want to change?
