Then I suggest writing a UDF in RPG and passing that back.

Then basically it's
- Looking up the three character alpha against a 12 element array.
- Taking the middle number (using various bif's to get it) slapping a '0'
as a prefix and taking the right two characters.
- Year
reformatting it to 2008-06-05
converting it to a date
and passing it back.
