Actually, I did get a bit of time to try it.

I successfully created an MQT and created both indexes I want over that MQT. Booyah!

--BUT-- it doesn't appear that I can use REFRESH IMMEDIATE. I can only use REFRESH DEFERRED, which totally nullifies the reason I wanted a view with an index in the first place. The data has to be continually in sync. The "iSeriesDB2 Universal Database for iSeries SQL Reference Version 5 Release 4" doesn't even show REFRESH IMMEDIATE as an option, though DATA INITIALLY IMMEDIATE _is_ an option and works.

But I ain't givin' up yet.
