Really, a SQL Primer is recommended. Your question is about as basic as
it gets.
Then there's stuff to consider like:
- What if there's a header with no detail?
- What if there's a detail with no header?
This is when you'd use clauses like "left outer join".

This book was very good for starting out. Others may be a bit more
current, or have more examples or focus more in a particular persons area
of interest or ...
