As an Editor?

But i doubt you can get i5/OS to print anything that complicated, unless
you build your own printing backend.

Subject: WYSIWYG Word Processing on the iSeries

Hi

Is anyone out there providing a WYSIWYG word processor for their users?

We are currently using DTM (green screen editor) for producing our
documents, but we're rewriting one of our applications to have a browser
front end (rpg back end), so we're looking for a way for users to view,
create and edit documents (mainly letters to clients) in a GUI editor -
either in a browser window or a GUI app.

Our main requirements are:
1) We're trying to avoid using MS Word due to licensing costs
2) We want to continue doing the printing through the iSeries
3) We need to merge iSeries data into the letter e.g. client's name and
address
4) We need to be able to build the letter automatically and then display
it
for the user to amend i.e. the user selects a standard letter or a
number of
paragraphs from a list, the system then builds the letter, merging any
iSeries data and applying any formatting, etc and then displays it in
the
browser or fires up the editor.
5) We want to store docs on the IFS

Any ideas?

Thanks very much

Jon
