I've started a RAID5 on 4x70 Disks in a 515 with the RAID enablement
card. Took about 4 hours. As such, you time doesn't seem to be off that
much, as your disks are double in size and number.

Subject: EXP24 and start parity

Good morning, folks!

Can someone shed some light on why it took me 6+ hours to start parity
on 8x 140 GB drives in an EXP24 expansion attached to a 520+ with a
5776? Followed the book on cabling the unit, and once the drives are
available in the ASP, it's quite speedy.

Wondering if anyone else out there has noticed a significant
difference in the time it took to start parity on non-configured disks
when using an EXP24 rather than other System i-native DASD.

Thanks!
