You want to toggle the panel to 02, and then move past the B and to the N
and change that to an M. Then you just IPL and you will have a manual mode
IPL, and the first menu displayed will allow you to get into DST.

Subject: QSECOFR Password and Manual Mode

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can set my 520 to Manual IPL mode from the console?

I made a bit of a mistake here tonight.

I reloaded the LIC and OS/400 and came up fine and all that. Then I wanted
to install all my licensed programs. To do that, I ended all the
subsystems. However, because the controlling subsystem did not default to
QCTL, I had to change that (using the system value to do so). I then IPL'd.

However, I completely forgot that there were no other usable profiles on my
system yet (because I'm a moron tonight) and I have no idea what the QSECOFR
password got changed to. I thought I changed it to something familiar but
apparently I mistyped it somewhere because now I cannot get logged back into
my system.

I figured if I could IPL in manual mode, I could sign in to DST using the
default QSECOFR/QSECOFR there and reset the other one. However, I cannot
get into a manual IPL mode.

I know that I should be able to put the console at 21 and then IPL to manual
there, but 21 is not an option I can get to, probably because my IPL mode is
set to unattended at the moment.

In the old days, it was really easy to change the console mode by turning
the key to unlock it. But on this 520, I cannot for the life of me figure
out how to get to a manual IPL mode now.

I would appreciate any information anyone might have on how to resolve this.

Thanks,

Shannon O'Donnell
