I'm not familiar with BizTalk, but for the most part, FTP is FTP. The main differences between the i5/OS FTP server and the ones you'll find on Unix or Windows systems is that (by default) the i5/OS FTP server shows directory listings in it's own proprietary format, and path names are in it's own proprietary format.

Typically, a user could change these formats using 'quote site listfmt' and 'quote site namefmt', but a lot of the GUI FTP clients try to "shield you" from these complexities. And unless they've been specifically written to understand the peculiarities of i5/OS, they wouldn't know to send the listfmt and namefmt options.

However, you can change these defaults with the CHGFTPA command from your 5250 session. The following command would make the defaults look just like their Unix counterparts:

CHGFTPA NAMEFMT(*PATH) LISTFMT(*UNIX)

So you could try that...

I don't understand the bit about "check IP address, port number, etc". i5/OS uses the same IP address and port number as any other FTP server, so this should be a non-issue. (Unless the FTP server isn't running, or you really are typing the wrong IP address and/or port)

But I wonder if that isn't just a "generic message" that they send for every possible problem?

BizTalk can FTP to AIX and Windows FTP server but not iSeries FTP server.
On the other hand, I can use DOS command and IE browser FTP to iSeries FTP
server without any problem.
Keep asking me to check IP address, port number, etc.
Anyone has any experience with that? Thanks in advance....
