I've got V7 sitting on my desk, but haven't installed it yet. Anyway, I remember reading that, if one just installed the RSE portion, it would run quite well in 256 meg. But the WDSc list would be the place to go for details.

Well Dale, looking at your title (i.e. IT Manager) it looks like you can do
something about the slow part. Would you buy them new PC's if they
dedicated themselves to using it? Or a better approach would be to buy a
new PC for a single programmer (the one most likely to accept WDSC) and let
him/her excite the rest of the group once they have had successes.

You can upgrade to a kick-butt desktop for around $1K (no need for new
monitor). Well worth it if you are paying them $40K to $50K a year if you
ask me. It's like making sure you aren't paying them to sit and wait for
the computers to process - that's the way I look at it.

That "viral" was awesome! Brings back memories of when I was a
programmer..... and why I'm not one now.....

Question, though, for this panel. How many of you are using WDSC and how
many are still using PDM/SEU? I can't get my programmers to move onto
WDSC, and it looks like it should be sweet! They say it's too slow and
cumbersome..... and they ARE very fast.

If I did more programming (which I sadly don't have time for), I'd be doing
a more thorough shakedown myself.

Opinions, please?
