Notepad is ok sometimes, but be aware that it will convert line ends in
text files to dos/windows format (CR-LF) vs unix (LF only). Some
programs in linux land won't care, some will blow-up over the
difference.

Better to use an editor that will honor the format the file originated
in. I like PFE32 on my PC, and I'd probably default to PICO on a linux
box for no better reason than Its small, simple, and I'm familiar with
it.
