Vern,

Thanks. That worked like a charm. No joy on Fix Central though. I upgraded the JRE to 1.5.0_10. Still blew. Used Robs "trick" suggested by Paul to force an order by CD. No luck. The app still crashes. I went to another machine that was running the 1.4.2_13 JRE on Win 2k. It blew up again.

I don't know what is up with fix central. I would RATHER order electronically and receive electronically but apparently IBM has other plans to use the "Way Back" machine to get the PTF's by CD (is tape next?!)

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I'll see the CD's on Wednesday.

Pete

Here's the narrative: From the support page, go to fixes, where you maybe get to fix central. Farther down that page is a link labeled "ordering ptfs". On that page is a heading "Ordering fixes on media using the Internet - Fee based " and the link there is

http://www.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/coermedia/

You will need to have registered yourself with IBM - and add your supported iSeries to your profile using your customer number i think = it's been awhile since I got set up = now it just works.

Been using this method since 1996.

What is the URL for the online ordering site (haven't heard of that).
We have support.

The problems with Fix Central are why almost refuse to use it - the
online ordering site from Boulder ALWAYS works - and you can ask for
delivery in 2 days max. And all prereqs are there.

If you have support, you can use it.
