Just experimenting with what I don't know.

Read the Saga tale and I must say that you really must have had a very
difficult time working in Tuscany. My daughter went there with her husband
when they were shooting "Mid Summers Night Dream" and she said that you have
to drink all of the wine once you open a bottle because they don't put any
preservatives in it. Tough life but it probably was difficult spelling.

P.S. You were a big hit at Staples, but I didn't get the job. X-Analysis is
an interesting package but you do have to learn to peal the onion before it
really is helpful.

Subject: RE: Actual Length if VARCHAR field

Brian, thank you your syntax LENGTH(RTRIM(field)) ...

Jack - if you intend to use the result in a substring then I can't quite
understand why you need the value at all. A VARCHAR implicitly limits
itself to its actual (rather than storage) length when used in operations.
SO why do you need a substring op at all? Unless I guess you are extracting
the back end of the string.
