not sure this will get back the line space, but it could possibly allow suppression of the text - long ago suppressed unwanted "creating access path" status messages with...

1) create another *MSGF with only the unwanted message id with desired alternative text - "please wait..." or " " 2) OVRMSGF the original message file to the new one, it will be used for message(s) found there, but will fall back to the original for all others
