I might have left that little bit of history out of this particular discussion... </snip> But then where would we be? Without Hollerith there'd be no IBM. Without IBM there'd be no PC or AS400/iSeries/i5/Any other name beginning with I. And without those there'd be no Midrange.com and no list... I don't think Booth is wrong to invoke the memory of the Hollerith card (the name's even included in the MS spellchecker), and I may even be labeling myself as a dinosaur here, but I know a number of "younger generation" programmers who have never even heard of Herman Hollerith. Mind you, they also think log tables are things you find in the park... Jonathan
