As you'll notice, even MySQL gets more notice than DB2/400.

DB2/400 isn't mentioned at all. The Gartner survey is geared toward
shrink-wrapped DBMS packages which doesn't fit the business model for the
iSeries, where the database is simply part of a complete system, and not sold
separately.

You seem to be putting your own negative spin on the report, Dave.

mySQL and Linux are probably great choices for Data Warehouse (Business
Intelligence) applications, which seems to be a growing market. The iSeries
database is geared more toward centralized transaction processing applications.

Subject: Gartner Study on DBMS Identifies Spending and Deployment Trends

You all might want to study the info at the link below. IBM uses it to
show how well the real DB2 is doing. You'll notice the System i5 and
DB2/400, as I've said all along, is not even in the serious running;
although it should be.

As you'll notice, even MySQL gets more notice than DB2/400.

Notice the move toward Linux. Notice the top RDBMS contenders.

Sure hope the i5 starts competing with the rest of the RDBMS world.
