Here's one for you.
They took our local post offices ability to sort any mail away go a
letter to some one in town has to go 60 miles away to Akron and back to get
delivered 5 streets away

and how is this different than any other business that consolidates operations?
local service is always impacted, but the bean counters don't care..
maybe soon all the sorting will be offshore..<grin>
I am completing a project for a customer that does volume mailing of certified with return receipts. We will now daily transmit a record for each mail piece to Washington, mail the pieces, then get the signature back electronically instead of the green cards, and save 50 cents for every piece. Considering the Post Office handles many times the
volume that Fedex, UPS and other combined, they are not doing too bad..

I am still trying to figure out why from either my house or downtown Cincy I can mail 2 letters, one to Mississippi (in the STICKS) and one to Dayton, OH and the MS one will get there in 2-3 days, where the Dayton one is ALWAYS a
minimum of 5......................

Worse...it's both. With UPS Mail Innovations, UPS delivers it to the
post office in the destination zip code, and the US Mail takes over
from there.
