RE: Assistance with tape drive

Had this happen once, did a shutdown (with power-off) and restart and it
"reset" the drive.  It's a shame that the 170 isn't concurrent maint up
there, or you could just remove/add the device and that would
power-cycle it.

So - I'd try the Windows solution - reboot!  (With restart *NO so you
get the full power-off)  Other than that, I suppose it could be a bad
cleaning tape and the drive is flagged as dirty.  Might be worth a shot
trying a new cleaning tape before shutting down.

We have a 6390 tape drive in a 9406-170 that is immediately ejecting the
tapes today.  We have tried using the cleaning tape, and about five
others (all brand new) and it loads them and immediately ejects the
tape.

Everything was fine yesterday, we ran a full system backup without any
errors or problems......

I have checked the device and it is varied on, so I varied it off and
back on again....no problems seem apparent so any suggestions or hints
would be greatly appreciated.
