Hi Brian

This is because RPG IV programs are not created from source but from compiled objects called modules. Even when you use opt 14 in PDM (CRTBNDRPG in WDSC or a command line), a module is created in QTEMP. On the green screen you can DSPPGM, get to the modules list, and do a 5 on the module to find its source information. I don't know whether WDSC lets you drill down this way - it should, IMO. If not, report it to IBM as a bug, because WDSC is supposed to be as good as green screen. (Small rant there on my part)

BTW, display and printer files are not RPG IV objects, they are independent of the programming language. They are used in both versions of RPG and can be used with any flavor of COBOL, as well as C/C++ if you are one who likes pain. ;-) (I know, it's not too bad, once you've done it a few times. But they say the same about coffee.)

Hi All,

Can someone tell me if there is a parameter that needs to be added to an
RPG IV program when it is compiled to allow it to display it's source
member information when you look at it's properties in WSDC? We were
looking at a few programs here in our shop, and we noticed that the only
programs that do not show this information are RPG IV programs.
However, all RPG III files as well as RPG IV display and printer files
will show this information.

Thanks,

Brian.
