Looks like this is new with V5R3. I don't see this command on my V5R2 system
with the advanced job scheduler.

There is a command SNDDSTJS
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?topic=/cl/sn
ddstjs.htm that allows you to send Spool Files as PDF or TXT. If you use
the Advanced Job Scheduler there is an option in there to have all output in
the job stream to be sent out via PDF to a distribution list. Jobs at night
that are run outside of the AJS we just put a SNDDSTJS command in the CL and
reports get E-mailed as PDF.

Mechanically the iSeries does not actually send the E-mail out. We went
into the AJS section in iSeries Navigator and pointed the SMTP output to our
E-mail Server. So the iSeries relays the E-mail to our E-mail server.

Fred, how is your emailing of reports handled?

Yes we have been using it for about 6 months now on our 520. I highly
recommend it for the $600 or so that IBM charges for it. Best feature we
use the most is besides scheduling jobs is E-mailing of reports as TXT or
PDF from the Command Line, CL, or from iSeries Navigator. I have been able
to cut down the nightly reports that get printed out at night by 80% if not
more.

You will want to be current with PTFs though. Once we applied the latest
CUM which contained PTF

went away and now the AJS has worked flawlessly since this PTF for us.

Is anyone aware of an "Advanced" Job Scheduler, provided by IBM?

  Thanks,
