Hi Rob,

No, we specify the default of KEYFILE(*NONE) on both the RGZPFM with
allow cancel = *YES and Lock = *SHRUPD and the second RGZPGM with allow
cancel = *NO and Lock = *EXCL.  The first reorg can take many hours
depending on the file size, but the second 'exclusive' reorg usually
takes just minutes.

I'll check with IBM about this behavior and see if my understanding of
how this is working is correct.

Did you, by any chance, run your RGZPGM with RGZPFM KEYFILE(*RPLDLTRCD)?

Because I think that if you use *RPLDLTRCD that is exactly what is 
supposed to happen.  Why would anyone want *RPLDLTRCD instead of just 
getting rid of deleted records?  To reserve the space on disk that the 
file grows to on a periodic basis so no one else uses it?
