The IBM recommended work around is to use variable length fields in your file. For example if your existing file looks like FLD1 30A FLD2 15A Then either change that file, or make an intermediate file - Original file CREATE TABLE ROB/ANN (FLD1 CHAR (30 ) NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT, FLD2 CHAR (15 ) NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT ) INSERT INTO ROB/ANN VALUES('TEST', 'ALPHA') - Intermediate file CREATE TABLE ROB/ANN2 (FLD1 VARCHAR ( 30) NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT, FLD2 VARCHAR ( 15) NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT ) INSERT INTO ROB/ANN2 (SELECT TRIM(FLD1), TRIM(FLD2) FROM ROB/ANN) CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(ROB/ANN2) TOSTMF('/ROB/ANN2.TXT') RCDDLM(*CRLF) Looks good now.
