I have good luck with HP printers or other models connecting with HP JetDirect boxes buy changing the default time out. Just telnet (easy for a PC DOS window) to the printers ip address. You should get a menu. Look through it for a timeout setting, often the default will be short 60-90 seconds. I change it to 300-600 seconds. What I find happening is that an ip printer on the LAN will be in use by some other host (PC printing something) and the 400 can't get the device in use. Increasing this value at the printer will tell it to wait much longer for it to become available. -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sannan Solberg Sent: Wednesday, November 23, 2005 2:01 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Printers Die for No Reason I checked these settings in CFGTCP and all appears to be fine. The problem still seems to be occurring, though. Each time I get the same type of joblog below. Not that it should matter but both are Lexmark Optra (model N and model S) printers and I have them setup as RMT printers currently. After checking supported printers on IBM site, it appears these printers could be setup as a *LAN type printer (says they support PJL) but which system driver should I use (*HPPJLDRV?). Anyone out there have these printers setup currently?
