Hello Chris, You can find the documentation for the fopen function in the C Library Functions manual - page 100: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/topic/books/sc415607.pdf The mapping between the C Library Functions and the AS/400 runtime implementation is documented for the IFS functions in the QSYSINC/H file, member IFS: Columns . . . : 1 71 Browse QSYSINC/H SEU==> IFS FMT ** ...+... 1 ...+... 2 ...+... 3 ...+... 4 ...+... 5 ...+... 6 ...+... 7 0003.95 #pragma map ( fgetpos, "_C_IFS_fgetpos") 0003.96 #pragma map ( fopen, "_C_IFS_fopen") 0003.97 #pragma map ( freopen, "_C_IFS_freopen") 0003.98 #pragma map ( tmpfile, "_C_IFS_tmpfile") 0003.99 #pragma map ( fsetpos, "_C_IFS_fsetpos") Best regards, Carsten Flensburg ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Bipes" <chris.bipes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, November 23, 2005 4:10 AM Subject: _C_IFS_fopen Does any one use this function in RPGLE? If so, what authorities are required to read a file. I am calling passing the parm of 'r' which, to the best of my knowledge, is the flag for read only. The jobs work great if you have *RWX but blow up if you have *R or *RX only. I have been searching IBM great hiding place called InfoCenter with no luck. What I would really like is the link to the whole _C_IFS_ api's that shows the necessary authorities.
