> Is the intermediate file really necessary or could the OPNQRYF perform > the ordering and/or select/omit logic? The primary purpose of the logical is probably that it introduces two keys and pre-filters the records. The selection could definitely be added to the OPNQRYF. I said in my first post that the whole program could stand to be re-written but I've got other things that need my time more than this right now. I was just looking for a performance boost that didn't require a lot of time to implement. Since the thread started this morning I've done some tests with and without the DLYJOB(60) and the output is identical. I'd say that it's not needed but I thought that it wouldn't to ask in case somebody else might have had some insight as to why it was put there in the first place. I think I'm going to go ahead and remove it from production. Thanks. Dave Parnin -- Nishikawa Standard Company Topeka, IN 46571 daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
