I agree with you.  Domino is a complete package for an office.  We run 
three Domino servers on our 810.  We use LEI to write directly to DB2 
on our application server.  We support about 400 Notes clients and the 
dependablity is outstanding.  Yes, you will pay more to run it on 
iSeries, it does chew on the processor a bit and disk is typically 
more expensive.  
I guess Linux is a good alternative, if you have Linux experience in 
your shop, but otherwise it's just another thing you gotta learn so 
might as well learn Domino.
