I hope you mean that you recall that they don't have a support contract anymore 
so PTFs aren't available to them. Otherwise, V5R1 PTFs should be available for 
quite a while to come.

AFAIK, what has gone away is the opportunity to have IBM create _new_ PTFs for 
new problems. PTFs that were created previously for problems haven't gone away. 
The 'fix' for that is to upgrade to V5R2. BTW, I just received my V5R1->V5R2 
upgrade CDs Wednesday of last week after ordering it... hmmm... on Oct 12th.

AFAIK, PTFs are also available for some releases even older than V5R2. I don't 
know how long they stick around -- I rarely need to download PTFs for releases 
that far back.

Just wanted to comment to clear confusion (and allow myself to be corrected if 
necessary).
