Could be it be that you want to use the %SUBST BIF?
The right syntax for this would be (I think...):

EVAL IPT2 = %SUBST(IPT1:LN)

OK This is driving me freeking nuts. What is wrong with this eval statement?

IPT1 and IPT2 are 15 character alpha fields.  LN is a 2.0 numberic field.

The errors are from the compiler.

Yes that's a comma above the 'a'.
