A GOOD business partner is worth their weight in gold or however you want to measure it! All the ones i've dealt with have been good (with the exception of one or two bad reps who didn't last long...). They will catch things you don't (announcements, renewals of SW support, etc.). They will also be able to resolve the inevitable billing and order problems you'll run in to. They will get as familiar with your setup and account as a vendor/salesman can be. I was also under the impression that most of all but the largest accounts are typically done through BPs at this point, not sure about that though. I've found that they can usually maximize the discounts you'll get on the hardware as well. Another plus is that most have a decent tech staff as well that can assist with ongoing questions and support if needed. With IBM direct you're pretty much always going to be working with a new person unfamiliar with your account (and with much less of a vested interest in it's success!). This goes for ordering, billing, support, future upgrades and orders, etc. "Gary Kuznitz" <docfxit@theoffic e.la> To Sent by: Midrange Systems Technical midrange-l-bounce Discussion s@xxxxxxxxxxxx <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc 09/28/2005 10:19 Subject PM What's best Direct from IBM or a Business Partner Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@midra nge.com> Hi, I'm interested to know every ones opinion on the pluses and minusises of purchasing from a business partner or direct from IBM for a small iSeries.
