Walden, OS/400 knows what to do when displaying the message. That means that IBM has written a formatting routine. My question is if this routine is available to us. I would like to display it in the same format IBM does. But in this case I can't use a message subfile and make the user move the cursor to the msg and press F1, in order for me to take advantage of the built-in "message displayer." -mark Original Message: ----------------- From: Walden H. Since 5250 is block-based not character-based there isn't really a concept of Carriage Return/Line Feed (CRLF). The DSPMSG command "knows" to start a new line when it sees &N and indent it w/&P, etc. If you want to display your own message you need to handle that yourself. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
