Rob, > I believe they meant 90. Used to be a problem on the CISC > boxes. Has anyone reached this on a RISC box? We did some math on this a while back. Someone found that the number of Temporary Addresses available on a RISC box is 18000000000000000000 (18 Quintillion). If you consumed temporary addresses at a continuous rate of 57 Billion a _second_ (a practical impossibility with this class of hardware), it would still take you a full 10 years to use up all of those addresses. At the more leisurely pace of 570,386 temporary addresses used per second (potentially possible, but still hard to do), the machine will go 1 Million years before it needs to reclaim those addresses. We concluded that temporary address use is no longer a concern. You're mileage may vary. :) jte PS - They ought to take this question off off the test - it's just not relevant. PPS. You can check my math in case I got something wrong.
