I was sharing a beer with Jim Oberholtzer last night talking about our IBM
2109-F16 fiber SAN switch that we use to interface between our 5704 cards
and 3582 tape drives. We use it to allow multiple 5704's to talk to the
same 3582. The lpar's take turns by varying off the device. However it
sounds like you want the same 5704 card to talk to multiple tape drives.
Then the question becomes, if you set it up that way would it
automatically create multiple devices (and/or libraries) and do you then
vary them all off except for the one you want to talk to? Or is there
some external interface, (other than the browser) to configure the 2109 to
turn off/on some configuration. I don't know.
