*YES! Much. I once tried to create a DVD for installing the base OS on
multiple LPARs because the customer said the disks were cheaper (by far)
than the Ultrium tapes we had there. After an hour of writing to the DVD
I bailed out, and created a tape in 10 minutes. Granted that was 3580
and SLR100's are not near that fast but DVD is *S*L*O*W* for writies.
