Some things to think about... Always get a UPS they works in a "sag or surge". Some of the cheaper UPS's only cover a power outage, and perhaps protect from surges. A sag can kill a system just as well. I would also suggest you include all the comm equipment your iSeries talks to, including local lan switches & hubs, firewalls, routers, etc. IBM's charts for a model do not have much if any room for additional equipment, and I've seen many BP proposals only include the iSeries. To your management and users, if they can't talk to your system - it's down. There is also a big difference between supporting your iSeries for 2 minutes vs 2 hours. And never put a laser printer or copier on the computer room UPS. It kills them with the quick warmup/cool down cycles.
