Color me stupid but what are you referring to when you say UIM? Are you referring to the menu creation utility in SDA?
UIM is "User Interface Manager". It's a language for creating screens, sort of like DDS, but based on "tags."
SDA does not create UIM.All of the IBM menus are UIM, that's how it's possible to scroll through a list of options that's longer than the screen in IBM's menus. It also allows you to have more than 99 options.
For example, on my system when I type GO CMDDSP to to go the IBM-supplied menu that contains all of the DSP commands, there are 196 options, and I have to scroll up and down to read them all. You can't do that with DDS (unless you also write a program to load it as a subfile, but it's not really a menu any more at that point)
