Joe,

I am sorry that you took my response as a personal attack. It was in no way
intended as such and I apologize for coming across that way. In fact, as you
just mentioned, you pointed out in the thread that you had NO evidence that
Stellar Debris was affiliated with California Software or MidrangeNews.net,
which I appreciated very much.

I was responding to the discussion thread in general, not to anyone in
particular. My intention in posting was to make clear from our own words as
Stellar Debris that we are in no way involved in sending out this spam and also
to clear up any potential misconceptions about the MC Press and Houston Record
items that were mentioned.

I'm sure all involved can understand our desire to protect the image of our
company. I had no intention of slandering or otherwise attacking anyone in this
thread. On the contrary I appreciate that there are good people out there who
are bringing this to light so that we can put a stop to it. I wish that Stellar
Debris had not become entangled in the discussion, but I understand that these
things happen.

Again, I apologize to you, Joe, and to anyone else who took my statements as an
attack.

Now, in terms of the spam itself, we have uncovered a few items that may be of
interest to those interested in stopping midrangenews.net. There has been
speculation that California Software is behind this whole thing. While I do not
know for certain that this is the case, evidence points toward this. In addition
to the banners and blatantly biased "articles" promoting their products on the
Midrange News site, we have found:

The company's website claims that their name is Midrange News LLC in Las Vegas.
A search of the NV Secretary of State's online corporate records returns no
record of this company, and a Google search for "Midrange News LLC" returned no
results.

The mailing address listed on the site traces back to a Mail Center USA in Las
Vegas. When contacted they could not confirm any customer by the name Midrange
News LLC. (The address fails to include the suite number or a box number.)

The servers associated with midrangenews.net, according to the WHOIS record are
located in Argentina (SERVER1.COMPUCINCO.COM.AR and SERVER1.AMC.COM.AR).
California Software has offices in Argentina. Certainly this could be
coincidental, but seems odd for a company claiming to be based in Las Vegas.
