I'm trying to wrap this up into a utility, so want to make it as simple
as possible. Since my company sells software (including utility
software), we don't really have users as such - just customers, who will
have this utility added to the software package they currently buy.

An alternative would be trying determine where the SQL defaults for a
session are kept and hacking/overriding those somehow..
