Reference to DBA Question

In the Re: DBA Question we have been talking about using DDS for defining 
databases but wanted to make a point concerning this.

Don't know how many people still get Iseries Network but they had an article in 
the May 2005 issue concerning performance between SQL defined and DDS files. 

Turns out their are significant performance differences between tables defined 
in DDS and SQL. Apparently there is different parts of the AS/400 doing I/O and 
performance on SQL created files is significantly faster. Seems DDS bases files 
do not verify data on writes but do every time the record is read. SQL based 
tables are verified on write and not on read. For what ever reason, author 
indicates SQL created tables are significantly faster. 

Would recommend anyone who is interested in this subject take a look at the
