You are exactly correct and I can't come up with 63 seconds either. Somewhere in my mind I'm remembering a problem like this... A PTF maybe? Change the search priority to *REMOTE and the back to *LOCAL.? I'm assuming you're current on PTFs - because you're Neil.

If you have the host name search priority set to search the local host table first, it should not even attempt to look for a DNS server, it should resolve the address instantly and start the ping. If I ping the router by IP address the ping starts instantly.

Anyone else have trouble with this?
