Anyone attach an external 7206-VX2 (VXA-2 tape) to a model 170 ?

I see it lists attachment via:
#2768   PCI Magnetic Media Controller   (minimum OS/400 release V5R1)
#5705   PCI-X Tape/DASD Controller      (minumim OS/400 release V5R2)
#5715   PCI-X Tape/DASD Controller      (minimum OS/400 release V5R2)

but none of those can go in a 170.  I'm wondering if it would attach via a 
#2729 ?
